Why Does RedBull Gives You Wiiings & Not Wings?

Do you know RedBull ones had to pay a compensation of 13 million dollar just because a consumer claimed he did not get any wings even after consuming RedBull for over 10 years,

You might be or might not be a fan of RedBull, but some or the other time you might have noticed the spelling error in the RedBull’s tagline. If you don’t already know, RedBull’s tagline is- gives you wiiings, here the intentional error is in the spelling of wings which purposely has three i’s in it. But do you know the actual reason behind this error? Well, we are here to tell you.

RedBull is an energy drink sold by Austrian company RedBull GmbH around the world. When RedBull began its sale, their slogan was “Gives you wings“. This tagline stayed on for over 20 years until one consumer named Benjamin Careathers, decided to file a case against the company for ‘false advertising‘ In his argument, he said that even after 10 years of drinking RedBull, he neither had wings nor any enhanced athletic or intellectual performance. Surprisingly, the court agreed to the consumer's allegation and termed this as a case of false advertising. As a result, according to consumer court documents filed in the New York Federal Court, the energy drink agreed to pay out up to $13 million dollars to the consumers, who say the company uses false advertising to promote its product. After the court's ruling, it was said that anyone in America who has bought even a single can of RedBull during 2002 and 2014 is liable for the payout of around 10 dollars by the company.

Since the loss of such huge money, RedBull decided to change its advertising tactics. But since their tagline had already gained enough attention, and was catchy, they made a slight change in their tagline. What they did is they added 2 more ii’s to their wings. Technically, this word is not in the dictionary nor can be used for exact meaning for a wing but will sound similar. So, now even after RedBull cannot actually give you wings, they are legally correct to use the tagline which cannot be termed as false advertisement. What do you think about this?
