Delhi Police Officer Killed for Stopping 3 Drunk Men During Patrol
A young Delhi Police constable was killed by 3 criminals for stopping them during routine patrolling leading to their arrest.
In a frightening incident, a young Delhi Police constable was killed by 3 criminals for stopping them during routine patrolling.
28-year-old patrol cop Kiranpal Singh was on duty during the wee hours of 23rd November 2024 at South Delhi’s Govindpuri.
During the patrolling, Singh spotted 3 men riding a scooter in a visibly drunken state. He stopped them to question them and asked for their identity cards and the scooter’s documents.
During the questioning, Singh realized that the accused were trying hard to hide a mobile phone. When Singh asked to check the alleged mobile, the accused grew aggressive.
One of them pushed Singh, and then all 3 started picking stones from the road & throwing them at him.
Meanwhile, Singh smartly put his bike in front of their scooter so that they could not leave. That’s when one of the accused pulled out a big, long & sharp knife and stabbed Singh twice. First in his lungs and then in his abdomen.
All 3 fled the scene leaving Singh bleed to death at around 4:45 am.
Singh was supposed to report back to the area police station at 5:00 am. When he didn’t, another constable, Sunil, tried contacting him multiple times but did not get any response.
Sunil then went out to search for Singh and found him lying unconscious on the roadside, near the entrance of Street Number 13 at Sant Ravidas Marg.
Sunil rushed Singh to the hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Hours after the attack, the Delhi Police launched a search operation along with teams of NDR of the Special Cell and Narcotics Cell of the South-East District.
They arrested the 2 accused identified as Deepak Max and Krish Gupta from their DDA flats in Govindpuri.
According to the reports, Deepak was hiding in the bathroom and fired at the cops to escape the building. The cops had to shoot him in the leg to arrest him.
Soon, the Delhi Police received information that the 3rd & main accused was hiding in Sangam Vihar. They raided Sangam Vihar and connecting areas to arrest him.
The main accused was identified as Raghav aka Rocky. He was the one who had stabbed Singh twice.
When police reached Rocky’s hiding spot, he opened fire at the cops to evade arrest. The police officers asked Rocky to stop firing and to surrender several times but he didn’t budge.
In self-defence, the police too fired back at Rocky, which caused him serious gunshot injuries.
The police rushed Rocky to the ESIC Hospital, Okhla for treatment but he succumbed to injuries the next day on 24th November 2024.
During the verification of their past records, the Delhi Police learnt that all 3 culprits were petty snatchers and robbers. They also recovered social media pictures of Rocky in which he posed with a big & sharp knife.
They are interrogating Deepak & Krish and investigating the incident further.
