Very Few Cases of Cybercrime Solved in Two Years
Mumbai Police unable to solve increasing cases of cybercrime cases in the city.
In Mumbai 3-4 cases of cybercrime are recorded everyday. In the last 2 years, 2,723 cases of cybercrime were registered by the Mumbai Police. The Mumbai Police, only managed to solve 362 cases. The cases of cybercrime are increasing because, it has become very easy to steal money online.
The police are not able to solve the cases because the officers do not have the technical experience. The number of officers is also very less, because of which they can not solve many cases. Last year, Mumbai had only one cybercrime department/ cell with 40 staff members. Now every police station in Mumbai has a small team that will focus only on cybercrime issues.
Special Inspector General Brijesh Singh], said that 500 police officers are getting special training.These officers will complete their training in a few months and will help solve the cybercrime cases faster.
Cyber expert Ritesh Bhatia said that, social media companies and banks must cooperate with the police, to help them solve cybercrime cases faster.
