Gujarat's Vadodara. It may be noted that alcohol is banned in Gujarat under the law which has been effective since 1st May 1960. However it is still being sold and consumed. Traffic Police has been on high alert and also checking has been increased in the state after the horrific accident that occurred on ISKCON bridge in Ahmedabad.
The incident occurred when at night the police stopped the woman’s car for checking near Gotri Gokul Nagar in Vadodara. The woman who has been identified as Mona Hingu. The woman was found to be drunk after which the police asked her to come out of the car and let them check her car. The woman attempted to record the police officer who had asked her to stop her vehicle for inspection. Subsequently, a female police officer instructed her to stop recording. However, the woman ignored the instruction and continued filming the police officer. This led to the police officer taking possession of the woman's mobile phone, sparking a confrontation. The woman got furious and started abusing and also started fighting with the lady officer. The lady officer avoided the woman who was trying to hit her and asked her to stay calm. The woman was uncontrollable, she also slapped a male police officer who was present on duty. The woman has been detained by the police and a case registered for driving recklessly under the influence of alcohol and also trying to fight with police personnel.
The incident has been caught on camera and is now viral on social media. The video caused quite a stir on social media. One user wrote: " This shows alcohol is being sold in Gujarat". Some even tagged the National Commission for Women, and wrote, "Hello @NCWIndia Where do you get lost at such times?. "If this is about women empowerment, then I don't want it. Our ancient cultural traditions are just fine.”
