PM Modi Announced Free COVID Vaccines for Adults
In his address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 7th June announced a centralised Covid-19 vaccine policy.
Yesterday on 7th June Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation at 5pm. Here are the key highlights of his speech.

From June 21, the Central Government will provide free Covid vaccines to all citizens above 18 years of age.

None of the state governments will have to spend anything on the vaccine.

Out of the total vaccines being produced in the country, the Centre will buy 75 percent and give it to states for free.

Private hospitals will continue to have access to 25 per cent of all vaccines and trials for three more are currently in the advanced stage. Scientists are also doing research on Nasal Spray Vaccine.

Private hospitals will be able to charge a maximum service charge of Rs 150 for a single dose after the fixed price of the vaccine.

PM Modi further announced that the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana - under which free ration is provided to 80 crore people across India - has now been extended until Diwali, which this year falls in early November

He said seven companies are producing vaccines in India and trials for three more are currently in the advanced stage. Scientists are also doing research on Nasal Spray Vaccine.

Our scientists have shown that India is not lagging behind big countries. More than 23 crore vaccine doses have already been administered in India. Vaccine supply will increase in a few days.

He also urged citizens to continue following all coronavirus-related protocols such as wearing masks and maintaining social distance.
