India Allows Export of Hydroxychloroquine to USA
US President Donald Trump threatened India with severe retaliation if the drug Hydroxychloroquine was not exported to the United States. Watch video for all the details.
Hydroxychloroquine is the oldest anti-malaria medicine that has been found to be very helpful in treating COVID-19 patients. The same medicine is also used to treat Arthritis & Lupus. India is one of the largest manufacturers of Hydroxychloroquine; and it recently banned its export, along with other important medicines. The government said the export will be banned even on humanitarian grounds.
The export was banned so that India has enough stock.
US President Donald Trump said that he is very sure India would allow the export of the Hydroxychloroquine as India and the USA are very close. Trump then threatened India. He said "If he doesn't allow the medicine to be exported, that would be okay, but of course, there may be retaliation. Why wouldn't there be?"Now India has agreed to export the medicine. The Ministry of External Affairs said, "In view of the humanitarian aspects of the pandemic, it has been decided that India would supply Hydroxychloroquine and other medicines to countries that have been badly affected by COVID-19.” However, India will cater to its domestic needs before sending off the drug to foreign countries.
