Groom Leaves Wedding and Chases Truck to Get Back Stolen Cash Garland

A groom from Meerut, UP left his pre-wedding rituals & chased the thief who stole his cash garland in a Bollywood-style chase sequence. The video of the same has gone viral.

How important is money in today's time can be understood from one of the latest social media viral videos. A 26-year-old groom from Dungrawali village in Meerut chased a thief who stole a cash garland. According to the reports, the incident happened on 23rd November 2024 but went viral on 25th November 2024 after its video was shared on social media. Groom Dev Kumar was on his way to a temple to perform the pre-wedding rituals with his family when suddenly a thief snatched the cash garland made of ?50 notes from his nephew Vansh Kumar and drove off in his tempo. Dev quickly got on a passing motorcycle and chased the tempo on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. When the bike reached close enough to the tempo, Dev heroically jumped onto the moving tempo, climbed inside through the window, and forced the driver to stop, just like shown in movies. After the tempo stopped, Dev pulled the driver out and held him by the collar while demanding an explanation. He is also seen hitting the thief in the video. Dev and his family successfully retrieved the cash garland from the thief. Some sources claim that the groom’s name is Pankaj Kumar, he chased the tempo because it brushed against him on the road at high speed and the driver does not have any connection with the stolen cash garland. While the reason may not be clear, that chase is certainly true. It was recorded by a passerby on his mobile phone. Dev Kumar or Pankaj Kumar & his family decided not to press any charges, and the thief was let go. However, the tempo’s owner Manish Sehgal claims that the tempo driver, identified as Jagpal Singh, is innocent & that this story is made up. He has filed an FIR against Dev & his family and is planning to take legal action against them. The video received mixed reactions online, with some calling Dev brave, others saying it was too risky, and many making jokes about it like:

- “Cash mala was more important than varmala,”

- “Plot twist: The groom planned this to avoid the wedding night!”

- “UP is not for beginners,” etc.
