Online classes for hearing children are running across the country. But there is no such option for deaf children as these children have neither mobile nor teachers who are trained to conduct online classes. The e-Vidya portal launched by the central government cannot meet their needs as well. In addition, hostels for Deaf children in many states have been closed due to lack of funding from the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Not only that, but teachers, wardens and security guards have become unemployed. According to the survey, there are 2.68 crore disabled people in the country. 45% or 1.21 crore are illiterate. According to experts, if the government does not take timely steps to educate these people, their illiteracy rate could rise to 75%. Activists say, “If the funds are not provided, how will these children learn? The government needs to think seriously about this.”
