Until now, there have been 26 women who have come forward with sexual allegations against Trump. I am going to tell you about the E Jean Carroll case that is currently ongoing. E Jean Carroll is a former Elle magazine columnist. Carroll alleged that Trump sexually assaulted her in the changing rooms of a luxury brand Bergdorf Goodman's store in the mid-1990s. However, Trump has denied the accusation. Another woman who has also accused Trump of sexual assault also offered her testimony in the E Jean Carroll case. Ms Leeds testified on 2 May 2023.
This woman is Jessica Leeds, a businesswoman. She said Trump sexually assaulted her on a flight from Dallas or Atlanta to New York in 1978 or 1979, when she was 37. Leeds – originally from Missouri was based in Connecticut at that time and worked as a travelling salesperson for a company that supplied paper to other businesses.
She claimed that a stewardess promoted her to first class and she got a seat next to Trump on the flight and initially had a “cordial” conversation with him. “I was the only woman in the first class cabin. Donald Trump introduced himself, him following the in-flight meal. Out of nowhere, he started “grabbing me, trying to kiss me, grabbing my breasts, pulling me towards him, pushing himself on me”.“It was when he started putting his hand up my skirt that I realized that nobody was going to save me but me, and I was on the aisle, I managed to wheel my way out of the chair, and grabbed my purse.
After a few seconds, I told him “I don’t need this”, and stormed to the back of the plane, on my original seat.
Leeds told the court that she didn’t tell “anybody” about what happened on the plane. She said it didn’t “occur” to her that it was an option to share what took place. When the plane landed, she waited for everyone to leave before she got off and drove home. “In that time and place ... men could basically get away with a lot,” she said.
Two years later, Leeds said she was working at a gala in New York City when she ran into Trump and his then-wife Ivana, who was pregnant at the time. Leeds said Trump recognized her, saying: "I remember you, you're that cunt/bitch (abusive word) from the airplane." Leeds has said she tried to move on and forget the incident over the decades as she pursued a career as a stockbroker. However, she was shocked when she watched the presidential debate between Mr Trump and Hillary Clinton in 2016 during which Trump denied ever kissing or groping women without their consent.
Angered by his answer, Leeds came forward with her accusation in The New York Times, which published her story. She told the newspaper, “He was like an octopus. His hands were everywhere. It was an assault.”Trump denied her allegations in a statement to the paper, categorically insisting: “None of this ever took place." He also addressed them at a campaign rally and said,“Believe me – she would not be my first choice.
